Derestricting new sv650, any guides or help?
Hi all,
I've just bought a 2016 SV and have my A license. The bike has a throttle stop restrictor and I would like to remove this. Could anyone please direct me to a guide on how to achieve this? I am pretty handy and would prefer to do it myself if possible. Thanks again |

Thanks. When I open the throttle to the stop, I can hear a "tick" noise as the linkage is blocked from turning by the bolt that I think is in there. I will unscrew some of the plastic bits and see if I can get in there to identify the offending bolt. I will post back when I work it out. Thanks

Re: Derestricting new sv650, any guides or help?
So I worked out how to do it. The trouble is I wasn't able to.
On the left hand side behind some pipes and the frame is the disc that the throttle cables attach to. There is a metal plate screwed behind the throttle cable bosses, which restricts the rotation of the disc. Unfortunately it seems pretty much impossible to remove this the parts are still on the bike. It is incredibly tight in there, and after a lot of swearing and fiddling around, and removing the throttle cables (I have small hands) I was able to access the two screws. Unfortunately they were in so tight and I couldn't get any purchase (pushing hard on them with a screwdriver moves the whole throttle assembly. I think you need to take the whole thing out. Here is a video for an older SV650 that explains some of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPpD3O-2O8A Looks like I will need to get a garage to take it out |
