Also went on the B4407 on the way to Llyn Bernig on way home which was a quiet, beautiful and at times interesting single track road. Could see quite far ahead on a number of sections to know if it was safe to open the throttle a little

Isn't it just. I was on the 4212 a couple of weeks back, the long sweep around the lake is just fantastic. As you say, excellent visibility too so it's easy to 'make progress'
