Default An interestinc incident on my way to work this morning

So I approach the roundabout in the right hand lane, indicating right, intending to take the 3rd exist.

A car joins from my right, I give way and as I pull out She slams on her anchors.

I have to admit I hit my brakes hard, she is stopped in the middle of the roundabout. Me about 1 foot behind her.

She starts a rant that I have just run into her, until the guy who was in the lane to my left who was about to pull out when she stopped in front of him points out that I had not hit her, the damage to her car is inconsistent with my positioning, there is no damage to my car and there is still snow sat on my front bumper.

She drives off muttering that she felt something.

Having thought about it. I am somewhat galled this young lady tried to arrange a collision. Presumably for christmas compo. I now wish I had taken her details so I could pass them onto plod. Her next victim might not be quite as quick onto the brake pedal as me.

Indeed. She is trying on an insurance scam and it might be worth letting plod know.Even a description of the car and the damage on it might help someone else avoid some nasty agro, and might get the scum proscecuted like she deserves.

Sounds like someone has hit her and driven off... She can't get her car fixed so is now looking for someone to hit her again so she can get it fixed.

That really makes my pi55 boil. Its bad enough that everyone is getting hammered for insurance, but people stage managing "incident" is just pushing premiums up even further.

Fecking ****, report what you can mate, might make the difference in a future claim.

Did you ask her why she stopped ?

Lot of this happening in brum, I heard we are the hotspot for this type of thing, what a nice thing for your city

There is a lot of this, which is one of the only instances where you can dispute hitting someone in the rear end. Report her to police with all the information you have. You could try telling your insurance company, although I suspect you would be wasting your time talking to untrained people who cannot do anything.

Where I used to work, there was a claims validation team who would deal with any claims which were suspected to be fraudulant or intential, and we did have a couple where people have disconected brake lights and performed a slam on, in the hope of claiming personal injury. An impact at 30mph into the rear of a slowing car can quite easily amount to £1-2.5k, sometimes more. This is obviously on top of the damage to the car which she would also have fixed.

Report her, I doubt anything will happen, but out of principle, you could save someone a lot of aggro.
