Default 2020 sv650a comments

Just commenting on some aspects of my new bike which seem a bit odd .
Pressed metal sidestand foot - sidestand feet are usually fairly substantial solid metal !
Bottom of rear shock absorber is nickel plated pressed metal - as sidestand comment.
Rather vulnerable electrical connector and thin wiring under clutch lever.
Plastic petrol filler cap.
Still, it has a 3 year warranty so if anything fails !

Yes, the sidestand foot does look a bit flimsy (I have a 2017 Gen 3). From memory the shock lower is the same as on the previous generation SVs, so it's robust enough, and the clutch switches have always been exposed on previous generations too.

Odd that yours has a plastic filler cap, though, on mine it's metal.

The flip up keyhole cover is plastic, will check the cap again.

You could be right, I think it maybe is metal but it isn't easy to tell.

A side stand shoe should improve the pressed metal foot which is a bit harsh on my tarmac drive !
They are on ebay for about £10 (although from China which I would prefer to avoid ) The problem is elsewhere they can be several times that cost !

I bought some bits recently and opted for a UK based address to avoid a long wait and worry of parts being cheap and flimsy. They arrived with the original chinese packaging on. The seller was just buying the cheap bits in and charging three times the price for them.

Yes, I think this happens a lot on ebay. Order parts cheap from China if you can wait about a month for delivery ,or order exactly the same thing at 3 times the price from a UK address for delivery in about 3 days !

On the subject of 'made in China' , how many components on Japanese bikes are made in China anyway nowadays ? Or which parts of an sv650a do Suzuki actually make themselves ? Just a thought.
