Default speed/revs

my speedo is knackered and wont be repaired until tuesday

on friday i am on a bit of a tour on the SV.

could some kind soul post up the rpm in 6th at 60/70/80 and 120* on a standard 650SK3 so i can try not to get nicked for speeding, esp since part of my journey will be through the infamous M4 cameras!

*only joking

This is how you check your speed

http://www.abd.org.uk/gatso_photo_checking.htm

Example:

Suppose the vehicle passed 7 marks 5 feet apart in 0.5 seconds. Calculate as follows:

7 marks * 5 feet * 0.6818 / 0.5 seconds = 47.7 mph

You may need the following conversion factors:

Mph to feet per second: multiply by 1.46667
Feet per second to mph: multiply by 0.6818
Feet to metres: multiply by 0.3048
Metres to feet: multiply by 3.2808

scientifically correct, but tricky to calculate at speed on the M4

Sure I saw a calculator mod for the standard clocks on Ebay - may want to check that out as well

Nope. Indicated 68mph. We called it the 68mph shuffle, if you remember.
Oh how we laughed.

Will, I'll check out the revs at those speeds for you when I go out tonight, since I go on some fast roads.
Probably not gonna get the opportunity to check the 120mph on the a35, though.
Well, not till after midnight, anyway.

Best advice i can give is dont worry what speed you are doing.

just try and maintain the speed of most cars as they travel thru the speed camera markings.

And for regular travel just match or be slightly above a majority of the traffic and you can safelty assume you are doing about 80-90mph.

Just check your mirrors frequently for unmarked cars and change lanes when you can to show good behaviour to any unmarked cars that may be watching you.
