Re: Cheaper Trumpet?
Surely that's a slightly retro looking Street Triple?

Re: Cheaper Trumpet?
As long as it's called something like Arctic Ice White it'll be ok

Re: Cheaper Trumpet?
Shall we put a few guesses in on the specs?
I'd say no suspension adjustment apart from maybe rear preload. Approx 70bhp and 60nm torque, both peaking very low down in the revs. LCD retro look dash. Choice of black, deep maroon or deep green colour like their Street Twins. A million add on accessories available to make it more retro including an £800 slip on exhaust which will be totally at odds with it's price point of about £6,400 for the base model. The finished product will also have a number plate bracket that sticks out 4ft, that everyone will remove to give it that no rear end look again and buy the Triumph add on Tail tidy with LED blinkers for £200. Not sure if it will have a locking fuel cap though.. probably an extra too. I'm expecting the accessories catalogue to have the word Billet used in it about 700 times.

Re: Cheaper Trumpet?
Triumph Dulux
And I bet the base price will be a fair bit more than £6,400. It is a Triumph after all...

Re: Cheaper Trumpet?
... but they keep mentioning going for the first big bike market. Up against the (£6600) MT07 I'd have thought, so trying to compete budget wise. Kind of a Triumph Value range going for the post Covid market of people avoiding public transport etc.
I went to Fowlers the other day and saw that their scooter and 125 section seems to have got huge. Apparently (similar to bicycles) sales of smaller bikes and scooters to keep people mobile are going crazy. Not sure if this will fit into that bracket but I bet Triumph are concious that they need to get more affordable offerings out there. They hinted at it with the lower budget, lower cc version of the Street Triple 2017 onwards.

Re: Cheaper Trumpet?
I'd assumed it was white because it was a mock up prototype and the parts had been 3D printed. Ugly? Obviously subjective but it looks like any modern bike with the exception of the round headlamp. I see the weather protection is up to modern standards, ie non existent. Personally, I'm tired of having to fit fender extenders and huggers to every new bike.
It'll be the 47hp A2 bike with upgrade to 80hp to keep it ahead of the class but not too close to the 765.

I like the look, but it will depend on what's added on (like the tail untidy). I think the headlight looks great, and like the round display. I won't disagree with the weather protection, but my personal pet hate is the rear seat being made smaller and smaller (and then having to put the numberplate onna stick to comply with standards). Don't forget that there's a 660cc Street Triple, so it'd need to fit in with that. |
