Default Scorpion street extreme exhaust

I'm thinking of getting one of these and notice a few threads about bikes running lean. Would this only be the case because of increased airflow due to being baffleless?

If i run it with the baffle would the bike run ok and not require a re-map?

I should run ok without the baffles. Its just advisable to get the bike mapped to gain the best from the can.

what he said...

my extreme makes the bike run a bit lean without the baffle in, and i'll be getting it mapped when i can, with the baffle in it's fine and still much louder than the stock exhaust, taking the baffle out is for when you really want to sound obnoxious

I have run mine (K5), albiet with the baffle in (it is plenty loud enough, but not obnoxious) from Wyoming (to over 9000') to Washington State (down to 200') to New York state (down to 500') without getting a lean (white or very pale tan) plug reading. In fact the plug color remains pretty much consistant, and I have not noticed any stumbling from high to low elevation. I am sure a re-map would maximise the effect of the pipe change, but doubt you could tell the difference while riding. May see a difference on a dyno, but can you really feel a 2-5 HP gain? I do run a stock air filter, that could make a difference.

By the by, I did not ride the SV coast to coast, it rides in a trailer with my work ATV. Just nice to have around when I am on a job. Maybe when (and if) I retire (sigh).

it feels very different without the baffle, noticably less midrange and more power shifted to the top end. when i get mine sorted i'll try and get dyno maps of the "before" power curve with and without the baffle
