First i made a template using romex wire from a home inprovement store. Its easy to bend and holds its shape. Picked some steel tube in the size I liked, this happens to be 1 inch outside diameter. I cut 4 pieces to length, and bent 4 sweeping 90°s at the ends of each piece. I cut the pipe somewhere in the middle of the bend that matched my template turning my bends into 30°s or so. Useing the grinder to shape the ends so it'll fit together.

For the flanges, driilled a hole in the tubes where it needs to bolt up. Next i stacked three washers and ran a blot through the pipe and washers. welded stacked washers inside, then flatened it with a press, cleaned up the ends with some additional welds and grinding, this made it solid.

On top, Steel plate welded to the top traced by the outline. Finnally while letting the seat rest ontop i adjusted the supports up and down until i liked the angle of the seat, then spot welded it in place

Here's a vid I took a couple months back. Several things are not done yet in the video, I see the chain is not on etc. I don't think I even had the carbs synced yet, but it runs.

Just checking in, its getting nice so I've been riding more.

I rejetted the carbs even though the inscriptions say 17.5 on pilot and 150 on main. The openings were appearing small even though i cleaned them, so i just went with new ones. The next day it wouldn't start. Started checking stuff. The Oil guage was completely full. I drained some out and it was really thin, and smelled like gas. The the needle valve gasket failed and drained gas into the valves past the rings and right into the crankcase. So replaced the needles valves and gasket. Plus an oil change... Fun stuff.

Riding it is a dream now... sv650s are so fun to begin with. The gps isnt enough so i ordered a digital speedometer from ebay. I will post pics when its on. I think I will enjoy that more.

I started building a crf250 supermoto with my son and daughter. I fore-see two of those in our future the way they fight over it now. We watch thomas chareyre alot on youtube and have a blast.

Take care guys.

Bought a cheap speedo off ebay for 30 bucks .
So far I love it. Just did a searh for universal motorcycle speedometer. Has a tach, L and R signals, low and high beam, gears and fuel.

All right this may be a big help to a lot of people who use the vapor, or koso, digital speedometer.

I recently installed a universal eBay Chinese El Cheapo speedometer tachometer. And like many post I've seen on svrider and other forms there is a problem with the tachometer being very jumpy. I didn't find a lot of information except for a resistor seem to be the common solution. So I had to buy the pack off of Amazon that came with several hundred different size resistors. I had to continually add resistors until I found the sweet spot of around 3600 ohms. This is considerably higher than the others but I seem to have had a lot of crap or interference on The Wire that I ran. I recommend starting off with 600 ohms like the other forms suggestion and then gradually increasing until you find your sweet spot getting rid of the interference that you may have.

I connected my pig tail to the rear ignition coil white wire. I tried the black yellow but the white wire proved to be a better signal.

After much pain (literally) and deliberation, I decided to ditch the clipons and fab up some old man handle bars.

As you may know bolting on a SRAD triple with risers isn't available. So they have to be fabbed up. So I ordered another SRAD triple top clamp, some generic risers and 27 x 7/8 handlbars, and a longer set of cables.

The SRAD triple is very thin so i cut out some 1/4" steel and Jb weld it inside the bottom cavities. Drilled my holes, and mounted my risers. Next I extended my cables, bled my brakes, and spliced my eletrical. Im so thrilled and could be happier with it. I can ride so much longer now. If your thinking about doing it, stop thinking and do it. Only thing worse is the wind blast to the chest.

Fascinating watching its evolution. Will it ever be finished to your satisfaction or will it be a continuing work in progress?

What does it ride like?
