The man behind the sound of a generation. I've been thinking of getting a new amp, and a Marshall is top of the list.

Mr LPH and I both have hearing damage from loud gigs. I dozed off with my head leaning against the Marshalls at the Astoria rock club where a mate and I used to DJ. Was deaf for a week.

Sad news.
From a very early age all I ever wanted was a Marshall half-stack and a real Fender Strat...
Thankfully that was one dream that came true

Mr LPH has Ashdown for the bass. But mates with guitars tend to arrive with the Marshalls. I'm just used to it now. Pete Townsend never really smashed his amp, he just perfected it so he tore the front covering and Marshall just fitted new covers each time.

The BBC has a tribute here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-17625335

Anyone know what the music is on the first video? It might be Led Zep live, but it's not a track I recognise. It certainly sounds a lot like Page's Les Paul and Bonhams drumming.

Yeah that's a 900, Awesome amp, I used to work in a guitar shop and had access to all sorts of stuff over the years, including a 1980 100w head, 1978 50w jmp combo, a slash signature half stack and a wonderful 1968 Jcm 100w head which I sold for rather a lot of money.

I don't get out to play with it anymore, but still remind the noisy neighbour who can make the most noise everyonce in a while. Nothing quite beats a Les Paul through a Marshall stack on ten...
