Hilarious.

As one of the lockdown architects, he should go. I've been exchanging emails with my MP and we came to the same conclusion but by different routes. I said he should go because what he did was wrong, my MP said he should go because it would muddy the PM's message when the press hounded him, so I then had to tell my MP I was disappointed in him if that was the only message he was getting from this debacle.

I think the nail in DC's coffin was the trip to Barnard Castle. There was no possible justification for that whatever your opinion about his original dash to Durham and it demonstrates his attitude to the lockdown was basically "it doesnt apply to me"
That rather tarnishes all his other explanations for all the whys whens and wheres over the entire period. The more we hear the less convincing it is. He should go just like the non government people who broke the letter and spirit of the rules did. The Scottish medical director and the Sage group scientist both resigned when caught out. The government housing minister, Robert Jenrick, who travelled round Herefordshire and Shropshire while under lockdown should go too.

If only the Government had shown the same tenacity and purpose in developing a coherent pandemic response as it has in defending Cummings, we'd have far fewer deaths, and would be emerging from lockdown in line with other European countries.

The incident highlights exactly where this Government's priorities lie. It's a massive 'f*ck you' to everyone who isn't a minister or SPAD.

...and so we have Paddy McGuiness giving a brief rendition of: "Do you know the way to Barnard Castle?"

To BJ & all the MPs uttering the weasel words " MOVE ON ", I'd suggest they move on to the Chiltern Hundreds

While both BJ & DC said DC had got medical approval to return by car to London, I don't recall either of them mentioning that the medic had been informed of the defective eyesight - the very reason for the Barnard Castle jaunt
