Default Selling your bike? *Watch out for this scam on bike trader*

I've got my bike listed on the trader. A guy has emailed me through the website: dennis_williams011@yahoo.com tel: 07980 987 654 (number looks fake but isn't - feel free to give him a ring)

with the following

Message:
"With regard....I am interested in puchasing your following item forsale...so i will like to know the the last price, kindly get back to me with the pics and the present condition of the item..my method of payment will be via cashier check or Bankers Draft. Do get back to me with all the follwing details before i can make an offer". I will also be responsible for the shipping of the item from you loction to my destination..

Awaiting your quick response.

Tried ringing him a few times and he answered but hung up very quickly when I tried to talk to him.

If you have any friends of family who're selling through the trader or ebay or other means, pass this info onto them.

Not sure exactly what the scam is or how it works... tossers.

Take the money for it, cash it in, draw the money out, close the account then give him the bike, all is well!

Problem with Trader is they do not even screen the known con artists/time wasters.

I'd read this piece on the MCN site, then ignore him completely or tell him it's a cash only sale and buyer collects. He sounds like a dodgy character doing similar to a common scam.

When I was selling a motor on ebay had quite a few like that, led them along for about 3 months with various poorly disguised insults...

car was sold to a proper buyer, over ebay, in cash, feedback left etc etc. .. they still didn't twig ... f##wits

Yep you just have to ignore these people. They're easy enough to recognise.

i had loads of emails like that when selling a car last year too.

I think the scam is, they will give you more money then you asked for whatever you are selling car/bike, then ask to give the difference to their shipping agent. your check bounces, or the draft is a nice fake, and you are squid short. solution, don't put email on auto trader, or play a little game with the ar$e holes
