yea nunez, first time I saw the S1000RR was at Donington last year on a BMW stand, and I thought the headlights were quite ridiculous looking! hadn't realised the fairings on either side were different too... im afraid that would irritate me haha!!

Also yea it is a crazy price, I always though Ducatis were dear but they aren't compared to that! and I think if I was willing to spend around £14k on a bike it would have to be the new Ducati Multistrada, going by the rave reviews its been getting, purely because its got the power, but also comfort etc etc.

BMW should bring it into the WSBK and MotoGP I reckon!

I saw 2 today (not together) while out in North Wales. One being ridden quite hard and the other struggling to go round corners...!

WSBK - has been there since the beginning of '09.
MotoGP - obviously they couldn't use an S1000rr in motoGP, even if they wanted to.

Someone I know has one, it's amazing, but for all intents and purposes (that I would have for it) it's just another litre sports bike.

Moto GP bikes are 800cc at the moment which is the reason they can't do that, though they're going back to 1000cc in 2012 (changed from 1000 to 800 in '07 IIRC) Tank capacity is also a limiting factor which could influence the choices the teams make.

Even so, they can't run the beemer! GP = prototype bikes WSB = production based bikes

yea i know about changing from 1000 - 800 in '07, back in the day the health and safety wombles decided they needed to slow the sport down as it was too dangerous.... they did a good job at that :P

basically what i mean is I think that BMW should enter the Moto GP with a bike, obviously not the S1000RR, but they should definately make a bike to compete in the Moto GP.
1) it would increase the grid size and
2) would increase interest in the sport with new manufacturers coming into it, especially after a couple of years when they are up to the pace and development level of the other teams.

plus the fact i'm sure BMW wouldn't have a problem supplying new parts and getting good development going on, should they enter a factory based team.
