Re: What makes you love motorbikes?
I wrote a blog a while back about how I enjoyed riding my bike and why. One of the reasons I gave was the "beautiful moment". I went out for a ride with the lovely TON before he developed the habit of falling off a lot and as we sped along an almost deserted motorway back home, side by side the moment of shared joy felt like a beautiful moment.
Going on holiday to ride bikes is also a great adventure, the wife is a senior Instructor who trains people to be motorbike instructors, so riding with her can be very rewarding, although I can never keep up with her because her bike skills are sublime. When we went to Thailand, we hired a couple of bikes and had a great adventure that included riding off road through the jungle. Again this was one of those beautiful moments. That is why I ride, so that every now and again I can experience one of those beautiful moments. |

Re: What makes you love motorbikes?
All of the above.
I couldn't describe how I feel about bikes really. I just know that I could never see myself without one.

Re: What makes you love motorbikes?
Quite a few reasons.
I love the freedom the motorcycles gives me, it's as close as I'm going to get to being a bird that has endless space in the sky. I hate traffic and feel uncomfortable surrounded by people so with the motorcycle it eases my anxiety when travelling. I've always enjoyed mechanically engineering and with the motorcycle the engine to me is alive, you get to experience the true power of the engines, they're almost free from hauling weight and act in what I see as a more natural state. I love the style of the gear, all the futuristic looking gloves and boots covered in armor etc. There's a certain smell bike engines produce, more so with the hotter running ones and espcially in the rain, it brings back childhood memories and finally the sound, from vtwins, 3 cylinders, L4, V4, 6 cylinders, single cylinder, etc and they all have their unique and amazing sounds. |

Re: What makes you love motorbikes?
I like it all, from uncovering the bike and the smell of fuel, to getting into bike leathers, not sitting in traffic and especially with the SV you can go for a plod about with the excellent engine noise for company or give it a bit of a twist and get your buzz on.
I also like the camaraderie, the nods etc and the ability to go and get lost on your own or meet up with like minded people for a social. Bikes are quality. |
