Re: Regulator-rectifier replacement? Curvy
Perhaps it was a cost cutting trial before the universal implementation ergo messed up the SV with the introduction of the cheaply made and cheerful rubbish Pointy
The 2002 generator also has shorter wires(saving on copper wire )as the connection to the main loom is closer to the generator side(just under the rear tank bracket). On the earlier years (99-01) the connection to the main is next to the rectifier. Both generators are interchangeable but you'd obviously need to extend the wires on the on 2002 generator to get it over to the right of the rear sub-frame or extend the wires on the loom end, to bring the connector closer to the shorter wires of the 2002 generator. Another bit of obscure information |

Re: Regulator-rectifier replacement? Curvy
I just attached it with the longer screws and fitted the rear plastic over it, did not foul it at all as far as I remember.
Will check all the fixings tomorrow but Im sure I didnt leave any out! |

Re: Regulator-rectifier replacement? Curvy
Thanks Citizen, it was the front screw above the battery tray and the lug wouldn't go into the mount on the subframe unless brute force was applied, could see the marks the R/R fin had made on the inside of the tailpiece. I didn't want to crack the 15 year old but still in good nick plastic so it was back to the Suzuki component!

Re: Regulator-rectifier replacement? Curvy
that's really kind - I am now at the stage where I look for any faults in the wiring and connectors, but in a few hours I'll probably come to the conclusion that it is the RR. Just want to make sure it'll fit before I spend the best part of £100 on it.

Re: Regulator-rectifier replacement? Curvy
I tried to get a pic, not sure if it will help but it does sit fine, looks like the top fin is touching the plastics but it hasn't distorted it or caused any heat damage or anything.
It also solved a lot of my issues once fitted. http://i1022.photobucket.com/albums/...psx0jkpm6d.jpg |
