Default louder exhausts

IF - i have said so far I wouldn't for various reasons - but If I would want a louder exhaust what would be a good one for an average price?

Would taking out the baffles out of the stock one make it louder (loud enough) assuming I have some. Does it not interfere with the running of the bike (my bike's fuel injected).

I understand replacing the exhaust pipe involves sawing off the existing exhaust or something?

I don't want one which comes up high as I use panniers and besides don't like that.

My bike's a naked 08.

i bought a beowulf stubby length end can (2nd one down on the list) which took about 20 mins to fit and cost 145 quid. I used an angle grinder to cut through the original pipework (2 inches up from the suzuki weld just behind the right footrest), then a hack saw to do the last bit since the grinder blade was too small to reach all the way through.

The can comes with a "Connection sleeve" which is basically a short bit of pipe to go on the end of the stock pipework where you've just cut, and your new stubby length can tucks into the other end of the connection sleeve. All bolts together quite nicely and sounds loud but not stupid loud (also has removable baffle but it sounds great with it in).

beowulf also sell "Reconnection sleeves" which allow you to 'reconnect' the standard suzuki can if and when you want to sell the bike (think they're about 10 quid). Dead easy (also doesn't affect the running of the engine in anyway if you're only adding an end can to the original pipework and not full system i.e. outlet manifold from the engine under the bike and right round to the exhaust...)

Hope this helps

edit: here's the guide someone gave me a link to - different manufacturer but exactly the same method

+1 on the Beowulf. I heard one on an SV the other day (not a .orger, though, and not interested in joining, sadly) while I was shopping around for a new can, and have ordered one. I'm going for a stubby coloured titanium one, and have managed to get it through my local bike-shop for £180, which ain't bad for a titanium can.

beowulf = made in england. Although they're not a bunch of racist skinheads like on the film - they do make exceedingly good end cans

+1 on the CCC. Also made in England, dead helpful - had one from them yesterday.

Most excellent sound with baffle in or out. Baffle now safely under the seat. If anything it sounds better than the full race Micron that was on.

It's got the CE stuff on the end so road legal.

Quite a big difference baffle in or out btw - one allen bolt and small enough to stow

Baffle out is much angrier Baffle out has been past a bike cop on speed cam pulling duty already.

If you want I could do an mp3 tomorrow.
