Default Any Schuberth owners on the org?

I've been looking at the S1 Pro for a possible purchase in the new year.

Looks like a snazzy lid, but jury's out on whether it's worth chucking £420 on a lid, or going for something a little more....economical.

It's had good reviews in Rider Power too.

The main thing is, I've got an HJC FG-14 lid which howls like a force 10 when I get over 50 (or 30 on windy days!). Plus the airflow through the edges of the visor are pretty high too.

It's a good lid- comfy and that- but I'd like to give my ears a rest and use a high quality lid which keeps the wind out, has a pinlock visor and those drop down shades look pretty handy too.

I have the bmw sport integral pro race (made by shuberth) which was £150 (reduced as last years model). Really happy with it, fits my head great, really light, d-link fastener, really quiet. aero dynamic (although could be argued only in a straight line as at high speed it makes turning your head hard! not sure if that's normal with all helmets). Doesn't have any vents on the side (they catch on the tarmac and twist your neck if you go down the road). I'm happy with it. Also noticed this helmet doesn't fog up as much as most.
In short not the coolest looking helmet (not that bad though, espesh with the tinted visor I picked up for £30) but comfy, light, and a good fit - ticked all my boxes anyway. I bought it from a dealers with warranty so if the liner goes baggy or anything I can take it straight back. I asked about it a bit back and everyone pointed out that the fit is the key to safety - has to fit your head right!
Hope this helps

Your welcome, general consensus is schuberth make quality helmets and make noise reduction a priority. I had a thread called "best helmet for £150?" might be something useful to you on there.
I've owned a takachi, nitro racing and 2 v-can helmets (crashed one low speed) so far in my biking career and this is the best by far (also most pric£y). The fit (quality liner etc) and weight are the most noticeable things which are top of my checklist on a lid.

Cool. I may well go for it- annual bonus allowing- got a loan to clear first and a few bike mods, so may hold back.

I was going to settle for a Shoei XR-1000 or something in that price range. But I think I won't,

The S1-Pro is quite pricey, but I'm looking at 2007/2008 colours, so may get a discount- they're already showing up.

if you're not wearing earplugs and you're looking for a quieter helmet you're insane, even the best helmets in the world won't reduce noise levels to that when you've got plugs in

With my beemer helmet I rode down the M1 to nottingham yesterday (really windy) behind my mate on his fatboy with loud pipes on and it was pretty bearable without plugs.
