Default Is it just a battery issue or is she allergic to the cold

Hi All

Firstly great forum...long term reader and loiterer, now im posting...

Right my 05 pointy..I adore her with all my heart...however when starting off from cold she starts off the button....but she has got to get up to at least 55 degrees before i can rev her properly without her dying...once she is up and running she is fine....at low revs on a cold engine i can gently and smoothly rev her to warm her up, but if i give her a few more berries and come off the throttle when she is not yet up to about 55, she will die.

I have come from jap inline 600s and this has never seemed to be an issue with them (im not going back to inlines tho!!)

Guys, reassure me that this is normal behaviour from my sweetheart

cheers

Unfortunately no, I would say this is not normal behaviour. You should expect some roughness with a cold start to instant set off but chugging out is abnormal...
When was your oil + filter last done and also your fuel filter should be checked is my uneducated and certainly unqualified guess

Not a battery issue or it just wouldnt start. So it will be a mixture issue in that it is running too weak when cold but gets better when the engine is warm.Possibly the temp sensor that controls cold start and warm up?

What is the condition of the spark plugs?

When were they last checked for condition and gaps?

Few years without a service? I think I can guess a couple of the problems then...

Too right.A couple of leisurely hours servicing at home pre-season is way better than waiting for a Breakdown wagon

I would thoroughly recommend a new filter and fresh 10-40 oil to start with since those are super simple to self fit and the current stuff is probably Tarmac at this point
