CNC Brake Reservoir
I bought this unit from E-Bay and it was branded as Monster (the energy drink). The price was good and when it arrived, the unit seemed well made and nicely machined. The supporting strut is a cast piece of aluminium and is quite sturdy, the clips that hold the hose are very tight and need care to fit with out damaging the hose from reservoir to master cylinder.
Fitting was a doddle, but getting the air bubble out of the sight glass took about a minute of gently shaking the pot. It lasted for approximately two days and then sprung a leak, spuirting brake fluid over my tank. I am now dealing with the company who import them and although they have so far been very nice, I do not expect much of an outcome. If you are looking for nice parts for your bike, do not bother with these because although they look nice, the quality is just not there. |

Re: CNC Brake Reservoir
Looks much like mine however mine was from a different manufacturer.
Needs a longer bolt through the bottom of the mount into the reservoir itself and need to use the original rubber tubing and clamps rather than those supplied. With both of those done mine worked perfectly but again was from a different manufacturer/supplier. Wil post up the link to mine later if I remember. J

Re: CNC Brake Reservoir
I have a similar one on the rear...no issues, been on there all the time ive owned it which is almost 2 years plus time the previous owner had it on. Perhaps you got a dodgy one?

Re: CNC Brake Reservoir
I have since stripped it down to examine the O-ring seal that is on the pipe and discovered that it is undersized and does not even fit. Also the thread is damaged and the pipe does not tighten up so getting it out was a doddle.
The thread in the bottom that holds it onto the clamp is also damaged and the screw will not tighten. It is clear to me that the one I bought was a dud and it is made from poor materials. The lesson here is shop wisely. |

Re: CNC Brake Reservoir
I bought something similar. The reservoir has been fine so far, but the supplied hose isn't up to the job as its sweating out fluid already.
It'll get changed for some proper tubing.

CNC Brake Reservoir
Got a similar type of thing bolted directly to the rear brake master cylinder. Works well.

Re: CNC Brake Reservoir
I have complained the store who sold it to me and they have said that it is a manufacturing fault and will replace the unit. However they have asked if I mind paying the postage?

Re: CNC Brake Reservoir
I find a lot of eBay stuff is poorly made, often cheap Chinese items disguised to be something special.
Personally anything cheap isn't going near my brake system. (Apart from some clear pipe, jubilee clipped on, not much can go wrong with that) Ducati have some nice reservoir, often for sale on eBay. |
