hehe I remember the sound of the V8 corvettes at the le mans 24hr. You didn't so much hear them as feel your guts get rattled about by the noise. Same at donnington 6hr where you can stand by foggys right near the track and hear them boot it down there. Hehehe

but by far the best looking cars there were the team modena aston db9r's

I'm sorry, you WANT a crown victoria? For the love of god, why? It is easily the worst car I have ever driven (and yes, I've driven lots, even lots of american stuff). This car made me sick as the suspension was sooooooo soft (the police version might be better in this respect, however, they may have just replaced the shock absorbers with girders) and considering the size of the car the passenger space and boot were tiny. Yes, the engine will last a long time, but the rest of it won't, the build quality is, as with a lot of american cars, absolutely shocking.

but hey, don't let me put you off.

Spent the weekend Land Rovering, helping set up the courses for trials on Saturday and Marshalling on Sunday.

Lot's of 4-4.5litre V8's being used at full chat trying to climb hills. Fantastic sound

Here's a very short clip of GG's brothin in law NEARLY climbing a hill in his. Sounds AWESOME in the flesh, let me have a go yesterday too... I WANT ONE

Growing up my Dad's neighbour restored classics as a hobby/retirement-fund and had a rather large collection. One of the cars was a mint Shelby GT500 convertible (can't imagine what it's worth these days). I'm pretty sure it's idle rpm was 2. It shook the windows in the house.

He also had several classic vettes, caddys etc - about 25 cars in total last time I asked, and stores them in a barn.

Stretchie - that one sounds like mine, bit it's in a '68 swb 2a so I get a lot of odd looks when I start it up and roar off. It's even better in an underground carpark! Well worth the petrol money
