Default Euro cover for a bike over 15 years old

I'm off to Europe for 2 weeks on my faithful old ZZR on Sunday. Just rang up my breakdown company (recsuemybike.com) to extend my cover:

"no problem sir, what year is your bike?"

"1994"

"Oh dear, I'm afraid we can't cover a bike of that age"

It appears no one will. Now it has never broken down on me other than little electronic niggles that I can sort at the side of the road. I don't expect it to break down but if I drop it and it's not ridable then I'm bu**ered. Has anyone managed to find breakdown cover for older bikes. the only quote I got was the AA at £150 for 16 days!!!!

Normally your insurance company will recover your bike in the event of an accident.

Breakdown cover only covers mechanical failure.

I think anyway, check with your insurance company.

That's what I have . If you read the small print, it states that no vehicle of over 15 years old will be covered outside of the UK. I have 3 bikes and a van so personal cover is what I always go for, but it doesn't cover the old stuff when you go abroad unfortunately.

I'm just going to take a full tool kit and hope i can keep it rubber side down!

I'm only TPF&T so insurance wont cover it. My UK breakdown cover will recover me in the event of an accident - I specifically added that to the policy for £5 when i took it out.
