Question Which free sat nav Android app?

I have a Galaxy S3 and want to use my phone as a sat nav.
I would like an app that doesn't eat the data use age and will just work off the gps alone.
I got waze and m8 but they seem to only want to work the the data turned on ?? So either I am doing it wrong or I need another app.

Any suggestions?

Co Pilot basic is free and uses GPS

You pay for the upgraded one with voice commands

Google. And unless you are magic, you will always need the data turned on for it to load the map.

I've had zero issues with the free google maps. Works well, and yes you need a data plan, but that's a small price to pay for continuous (and free) updates.

you can down load a map from Google on wi fi . but it doesn't eat up that amount of data .
you loose voice if you do though.
The supermarkets do such cheap car ones u can put in a purpose made nav water resistant bag its no big issue to go that route.lol
saves the phones battery too

Navfree is good - although the maps are sometimes slightly iffy, its free and has loads of European maps to download for free too (On android.. i think iphone you need to pay) Used it a few times when abroad to get around and does the job, otherwise google maps is the daddy. You can 'precache' the maps too if you know you're going somewhere up front. Last time i checked you could use the maps to get around but not use that for turn by turn navigation

My doroid still did turn by turn, but you just got a Gong sound when the turn was close instead of the Google voice

Google Maps, downloads all of the maps and stuff before you head off so if you set it up on wifi at home you wont use any data, obviously if you go a bit wrong it will need data to re-calculate but unless you go really wrong it wont need to download more maps.
