all lessons are of value, even if only to show what not to do....

if a chain in regular use (as in hasn't been standing) becomes stiff, the damage has been done and it's a fair bet the seal on that link is well fubar'd, only a matter of time before it disproportionally wears or should it seize, snap under load.

If on the other hand a chain was just left unlubed with the bike standing for sometime, then I've found a good brush over with ACF50 will do the trick, having the advantage of cleaning up the rust on the side plates.
