Exclamation Quick valve clearance question

Hey, I couldn't find an answer to my question in any other threads, but, am I right in thinking that the feeler gauge should slide right through between the love and follower when checking clearances??? I can't even get 0.05 past the inlet or exhaust on my rear cylinder.......

An answer would be really helpful as the bike is in bits and I need it pronto!!!!

Cheers guys
Ash

The gauge should be a push fit between the cam and follower.

reread, no not the lobe, 180 degree away, when the lobe is in the air, valve shut

Sorry that's what I meant, the loves are facing away from each other, but should the feeler gauge fit all the way past??

When using feeler gauges they have to slide through and you can just feel the metal touching each other. if you get get it through forcing it it is to tight. And yeah you should be able to push the slider gauge out the other side depending on room.

(Obviously not an SV engine, but a useful picture)

When I'm checking clearances I just make sure that the lobe is pointed up (180 degrees away from the bucket) and measure between the cam lobe and bucket. The bottom 180 degrees of the cam lobe should be uniform anyway.
