Z900RS carbon build up
This isn't my bike but a member of the Z900RS forum that was involved in an accident. The bike had only done about 2k miles but rarely went over 7k rpm and was usually in stop/start traffic (US loves traffic lights and their cities are built on a grid, so time it badly and there are frequent stops).
https://www.z900rs.co.uk/index.php/topic,3313.0.html His one way commute was 10 miles. Having said all that, I'm surprised how much carbon built up so quickly.

Re: Z900RS carbon build up
Indeed, my GT380's pistons and cylinder head never had as much carbon build-up than that!
I suspect that it's a combination of repeated short run / stop-start riding and poor-quality US fuel, I'm not sure their pump fuels have the same levels of detergent additives etc that UK / European fuel has. |
