Default Gladius cams into a curvy

I know the cam swap is discussed to death, but I haven't seen much talk about possible use of the new Gladius camshafts. Here is the information I found on them:

Intake valve duration is 281 degrees, with 9.0 mm of lift. Exhaust valve duration is 267 degrees, with 8.3 mm of lift. http://www.bikersweb.co.uk/features/...ArticleId=1996

That's another nice step up from the K3+ 8.7 mm (279?) and 7.3 mm (267?), with inlet to exhaust swap 8.7 (279?) and 8.1 mm (270?) and certainly a nice step up from the 8.1 mm (270?) and 6.1 mm (247?) of the Curvy.

Possible problems, different springs, too much tuned for low revs? Any thoughts on this?

EDIT: rough estimate would be another 2-3hp over the K3 cam swap?

Also check the new lift doesn't result in valves mating with pistons!

Good point, I've seen 8.9 mm cams that apparently didn't require new pistons and 9.4 mm cams that did, so not sure how that works out with these 9.0 mm cams: http://www.megacyclecams.com/catalog.../page%2053.pdf

EDIT: This post seems to indicate that the 8.9 one would need new springs.

Nope!
800cc really needs an aftermarket crank and aftermarket barrels. REALLY expensive (you could easily buy 2 TLs for that price)

So they wouldn't be a straight swap?

Not yet confirmed, there might be issues with piston clearance and the valve springs have changed, not sure how that would work out.

Buy some and turn by the enginehand... If it dont turn you know they contact. Then you can slot the cams and alter the timing to make them work.

and if it turns run motor?
it is not that easy, you need proper minimum clearance between valve and piston, not just it turns over.

Here is a comparison of a K3+ and Gladius valve and springs. They are exactly the same in this diagram except for the second spring, but could also just be that the diagram is not the most accurate?

K3+: http://www.suzukipowersports.com/fic...003&fveh=10157

Gladius: http://www.suzukipowersports.com/fic...009&fveh=28491

Only the the G1 and G2 bikes have the same piston part number, gladius seems to have new pistons, so perhaps the new pistons are needed to have enough clearance?.

02: 12111-20F00-0F0
03+: 12111-20F00-0F0
Gladius: 12111-44H00-0F0
