March Photo Competition: Panoramas :- TIE BREAK!!!
Firstly, thank you all for the votes, that was my first image for my project 52 for the year and it is one I'm struggling to top. I'm glad you liked it.
My Customary Ramble OK I've been thinking quite a bit about what topic to suggest, I liked the idea of light painting but it is tricky (in some cases impossible) with the cameras that people have and I like topics to be accessible to everyone. So, Panoramas it is, I'm interested in them myself at the moment so I'd like to see what the Org can do. It should also mean that a lot of you go and take some this month rather than search through your back catalog (but you are welcome to do either, looking at some of the entries last month you guys already have some awesome ones!) You can take them on anything from a mobile phone to the most basic digital camera because the merging is done in the computer. The examples were taken on an iPhone, Compact camera and DSLR respectively (the photosynth was also DSLR just it was hand held and my first attempt). Panoramas also are good for this time of year as you don't necessarily need a focal point for the image, light doesn't have to be excellent etc. Because there is more to them they can be more forgiving. Go have fun, the degree that you go to is entirely up to you! I know this is not the place for chat but a little tip for those those who don't have Photoshop etc. I find Autostitch very good, easy to use and it is free.

Chateau de Roche on the Loire taken using the panorama feature on my HTC Sensation phone. I doubt it will win, but shows what can be done with simple kit. |
