Default Throttle valve link arms

This is actually about dizzyblondes black bike, but I'm curious about it;

The arm that links the front and rear throttle valves together has worn on the pivots to the extent that the balancing screw is wound all the way in, and the rear throttle is still fully closed. Hence it's not possible to get the carbs balanced up.

So, can you get the arm as a part? What about if it is the lever on the end of the butterfly shaft thats worn?

My first instict is just to buy a spare set of carbs, but what are everyone elses thoughts?

Chris

I'd get a spare set of carbs. Was a time they were pretty cheap but are getting harder to find in decent condition.

Another thought is bodge the adjustment so the balance screw could go further.

(reaches for hammer....)

I had the exact same problem a while ago, i had a set of carbs spare and had to replace the arm and butterflys from the spare set because the pivits on the levers attached to the butterflys had worn also so i'd find a spare set of carbs if i were you

The problem you'd have with bodging the screw will be you'd still have play in the arm/pivits and still have uneven balance when you move the throttle

It is repairable but its a lot of work, bush the plate and make/build up, sleeve the shafts. Probably easier to buy a set of sh carbs.
