Re: Neil Armstrong RIP
Healthy competition! And a massively more sensible sort of race than both sides spending the same money on different sorts of rockets. IMO once you've got enough of those each to turn the planet to glass 300 times over any more is a bit academic...

Hard to believe that with 3rd party pics available online of the Apollo landing sites, footprints, rover tracks, flags, etc. since 2009 that some people still think it was faked. Must be the fumes from the superglue.

Re: Neil Armstrong RIP
I'm gutted that somebody who walked on the moon has passed away, I totally loved the clangers.

Don't forget, a number of the mapping missions carried out in recent years were carried out by countries that would be quite happy to embarrass the U.S. Not seen much evidence of foreign govts crying fake, not even in the Sun.

Re: Neil Armstrong RIP
The cold war saw some great things go on:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Ivy_Bells http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Azorian If they couldn't keep a mere 3.8 billion $ worth of seriously deep salvage quiet what chance would they have of faking a moon mission?

Re: Neil Armstrong RIP
I remember the day it happened, my mum and dad were going out to some dinner dance thing and my gran was babysitting me and even at 9 I could tell this was something really special, my parents however couldnt have been less interested tbh.
