Re: ADT alarms
I know you have no scruples when it comes to get the man drunk for sex. But this time you would have to do the screaming. Could you stand the pain. You may well feel you have had his baby afterwords.

Re: ADT alarms
Sorry for not replying earlier guys - loads of boxes to unpack, old house (being rented) needed maintenance and Internet down.
Very much appreciate the offer of help - will certainly take you up on the offer but will be in a few days I think. As for the costs, I'm most concerned that I will be ripped off (ie a finger in the air and being charged what they think I can afford) but once I know what I have, that's a good start. Will be in touch in a couple of days. |

Re: ADT alarms
Rip the lot out, it'll only drive you nuts for the first few months and after that you won't bother arming it anyway - that's what happened with me and all the houses I've lived in that had alarms fitted

Re: ADT alarms
You've had bad luck Lozzo. The cheapo budget system in the house when we moved in was pretty stable and the system we upgraded to after our extension works has been faultless for five years.

Re: ADT alarms
Well, after owning and living in rented houses with alarms, I decided to move to a less pikey area where I don't need an alarm to start with.
So, I can only conclude that if you need an alarm, you need to move. |

Re: ADT alarms
If its a wired system you can rip it out and replace the main unit and remote keypad for £50 plus backup battery.
You can get a ladder up to the bell box and disable it by removing the cover and taping the tamper switch - it will hoot for 30 secs whilst you do this. Thread creep - anyone know anything about scantronic 9100 alarm systems? |

Personally I would be ringing the estate agents and instructing them to get the info from their client (the seller).
