Rumour's of Guy Martin doing Top Gear are hotting up. Can't say I think it'd be the right choice for him, but would be interesting to see what he made of the program. I can't imagine him being happy (or may just not any good at) the staged bull**** so might take it down a path where they do real things and occasionally get themselves into a spot of real bother. He'd also be quite happy to get stuck in during their building challenges so that would work.

He'd also be funny doing the reasonably priced car spots, especially with the woman! Most importantly, Top Gear might lose it's disdain for motorcycles! Now that would be worth it

I think it's a little like the James Bond series - people thought the old ones were ok but now they feel has changed with Daniel Craig, most people think they're better. With a reboot, TG could be a good factual program rather than the contrived bollox that it currently is.

So it's Chris Evans after all, with a whole new line up.

I've worked with him a few times over the years in both a music and cricket capacity and he's likeable and doesn't seem to have an ego bigger than a planet.

I think he'll bring the show what it needs. A new angle.

What does everyone else think?

He'll be a good choice, I watched his spoof films on his TFi show the other night.

Funny he had Clarkson in the show too

Maybe they made him an offer too good to refuse. I don't mean cash, he doesn't need it.

I really couldn't think of anyone worse than Chris Evans, he's okay on the radio and the other stuff he does, not my taste but I can see why people like him.

He knows nothing about cars however, well he does, he knows what are the best classic cars to "invest" in, he doesn't actually drive them, completely opposite to the other three's attitude to cars.

I dread to think who else they have lined up.

Top Gear stopped being about cars a long time ago. Most people who watch it probably don't know any more about cars than where their ignition key goes in.

It's an entertainment show nowadays, not a motoring programme but the format needed revamping so it'll be interesting to see how they do it.
