Default Pc Rathband Blue Lamp Foundation

We all know about the tragic loss of David rathband, I am attending his funeral Saturday and paying my respects to a good man and colleague.

David set up The Blue Lamp Foundation as a charity to support officers and their families for officers injured in the line of duty.

Now I dont expect a bunch of bikers to support this charity but as a fellow officer I am going to do something to raise money for this charity. I am going to ask for sponsorship from my org friends but want ideas in what I should do to raise money.

Colleagues are doin the Birmingham half marathon but I want to do something unique.

Would you guys sponsor me? what can I do ?

Thank you small clanger, I didn't expect a lot of feedback to be honest.

After being involved in the funeral and being touched by the day I am more than ever wanting to help such a good cause. if anyone wishes to support me send me a pm.

thank you

I imagine yesterday was a hard day for you and your colleagues.

I think you have 3 options:
1) Do something that meant a lot of PC Rathband
2) Do something that is difficult. The thing is, you could do something that is v difficult to you (e.g. abseil down the post office tower if you're scared of heights) but to a lot of people, that's not a big deal because they'e not scared of heights.
3) Do something humorous - a calendar of police dogs in bikinis or something. May seem disrespectful to some tho.

Personally, I think there is a lot to be said about remembering the positives of someones life and people are often at their best when laughing, so humour is always appropriate in my eyes.
You knew the guy tho so you will know what is best suited.
Terrible that it all ended like this.

Thank you guys, I have replied to you both. I will set up a paypal thing for sponsor ship once I worked out what to do. I will check with his brother and blue lamp foundation to ensure its not dishonorin David.

Yesterday was the proudest day of my career, to be in the guard of honour and be allowed in the service, it was difficult but nothing compared to what his family and friends felt.

RIP Tango 190 I will do my bit for the blue lamp x

Thank you guys for your support x

Hows about visiting every police M/c section on your bike, sure you might even get some escorts on the journey.

Let me know Shell, I've been avoiding this thread and anything to do with Dave. I guess it's because it could have been me or one of my mates, all alone in a car in the middle of nowhere...

Head in sand? Maybe.

Willing to help? Certainly.
