I'm not trying to defend the driver, I was just pointing out that you nearly came to grief because of a very easily made mistake on their part. As you say it's their "blind spot" so you should be expecting and allowing for them not to see you in it.

Perhaps it's just the way we look at things differently. If I had been "nearly" side swiped my gripe of the day would be with myself for allowing it to happen, if on the other hand a car driver moved lanes without any apparent awareness of my presence I'd be congratulating myself for having the presence of mind to have anticipated it happening and it being a complete non-event.....

True, but I think that about a lot of drivers (and riders) to be honest so my expectations are pretty low.... I'm the ultimate big headed know it all but I try not to let it show to much.
