I'll have to crop the images a bit but hopefully it's not too bad.
The chemical levels were perfect. I measured quantities out in advance with the spirals in situ. I never noticed until when the reels came out of the tank but when I popped the film canisters, one of the end rings had got into the tank and, just my bad luck, dropped into a position which wedged the spirals apart meaning the top one was higher than it should have been.
I also stirred for agitation - no inversions - so the developer didn't touch the top few mm of film.
Lesson learned but I'm pleased with a semi success and the chemical smell on my hands brings back memories.

Looks like they came out nicely developed. Makes me want to do some more developing but my chems might need replacing though as its probably been better part of a year since I used them. If developing 120 film its best to soak in water once loaded for a few minutes to wash off the anti haltion layer. HP5 is usually quite dark and makes your developer go a funny colour.

It's the first time I've developed film for years but now I know it's manageable, it will encourage me to shoot more black and white. I got a couple of rolls of Kentmere 400, discounted with the AP tank.
I used this stuff; it was conveniently bundled together. Lots of places were out of developer.

I'll give it a few hours to dry and see if I can get some scans later.

I usually leave it overnight to dry, can be tacky for a little while after. I've not tried Kentmere, Ilford is my go to but I have shot Fomapan before. Not a bad idea shooting more black and white, means I wouldn't have to send it off. I'll have to check my stash and see what I've got kicking around.

Hi Bib, thanks for the offer but I've got a few kicking around. You got any film gear kicking around? I know Mav said he had some laying around.

I got a Ricoh Point and shoot from my late grandad. I think I'll jump it to the top of the never ending queue.

I'm OK on shutter cables too but thanks for the offer Lance. It should work with modern digital cameras too.

Nice radio Kenzie, from a well known brand. I like the handles.
I started playing around with the scanner last night. No problems with an XP install but I need to get the settings sorted. I tried the quickscan function with the Presto software but the results from that were terrible. Using Silverfast is much better but the images still need a bit more tweaking.
