Default Fishtank I can borrow? - Boltonish

I'm having some work done at home, which means I need to re-home the contents of my tropical tank.

I'm really looking for a couple of 2' tanks that I can borrow in July for a couple of weeks to a month if anyone has any knocking about. Lights aren't an issue, but would need pump/heater.

Seems daft to go and buy some for such a small period.

Oh yeah, I'm in Bolton.

Last time I moved I bought a couple of those big rubberised buckets from Homebase and ran filters / heaters in them for the duration of the move...just under 2 weeks. Fish had no issues at all, and we're talking medium sized cichids such as Severums etc.

I assume you have a tank that needs shifting with the fish out and once eventually back in place they can go back in? If so just use the heater and filtration from that in one of those big buckets, get it up and running to temp (use luke warm water to start with assuming it's tropical) and move the fish in.

Just a thought....maybe it wont fit what you have in mind but I figured it might help?

Not a bad idea, although my plec may try and launch itself as it currently hits the underside of the hood when spooked.

Tank is a Jewel (built in pump) so will have to see if I still have any spares at my parents (I did before they moved)...good to know they'll last that long...hmmm may be able to get 30gal drums from work.

In Yorkshire, we'd have shifted the coal out the bath & put the fish in.

Ask a cooper to make you a barrel, then cut it in half.

Thick piece of cardboard weighted down on top of the bucket should do the trick, just cut out bits to fit around the handles and any wires/hose etc...
