Default Winter prep

Going to have to steel myself, get out in the cold, and give the bike a quick wash down and coat it in ACF-50 ready for the winter. Fortunately it won't need much of a wash as the lovely folks at DC Motorcycles in Newtown washed and polished it for me when they sorted out the front header. Need to get that ACF-50 on asap though, as the weather looks like is starting to close in a bit now.

Maybe do an oil change as well while I'm at it as it's only a few hundred miles off being due now at 105,000m.

Same here, although we've been quite lucky in Cheshire as the roads still weren't salted / gritted last week when I had my most recent ride. Sometimes the roads around Macclesfield get gritted at the start of November.

There's some talk of gritting/salting the roads tonight around here.

Even with ACF-50 on the bike, if I've ridden it on salted roads I give it a quick sluice down with cold water when I get home.

As mentioned in another thread, on my old GT380 I just used to let the muck and salt from rides accumulate on the layer of ACF until the spring wash-off. That worked perfectly even though the bike looked horrible by the end of winter, I hated seeing it like that.

But yes, the AllYearBiker people recommend a rinse off with a low-pressure hose after mucky rides.

Buckets of cold water and a brush where necessary for me.
