New Tyres and Rain?
Advice please.
The Sprint is booked in Friday for a 6000 mile services and a new set of tyres on the front and back. The forecast all day is rain. The following day I go to wales for the weekend and are likely to see some wet weather. Should I just cancel the tyres as the ones on the bike still have some life left in them. I hate riding on new tyres it just saps your confidence? |

Re: New Tyres and Rain
depends on the tyre but most tyres these day are good from the off as i think the mould release compounds they use are not as slippery. it's all about confidence, if you think your going to slide/crash they you more than likely will as your noggin is taking up room thinking about it.

Re: New Tyres and Rain
nah, take it easy on them and build up slowly. They'll be fine after 10 or 20 miles.

Re: New Tyres and Rain
I had a new BT023 put on the back of my CBR then did a 120mile trip the next day in the rain, no problems at all. Usual stuff, a bit easy on the throttle and dont try and get knee down straight away
So yeah, I'd just get em changed... |

Re: New Tyres and Rain
I've got 023s and it was pouring down when they were fitted. After about 40 miles they felt great. TBH they were probably good a lot sooner, but like said before the nerves don't help. Just be easy for a little while.
IMHO they are great tyres in the wet. |

Re: New Tyres and Rain
Yep i feel the same.
Thats why this time ive left thr front on for a few more hundred miles so i only have to scrub one tyre in at a time. Gonna be dry the weekend anyway |

Re: New Tyres and Rain
I always seem to replace tyres in the peeing rain before a good run......never have any trouble, but then they are storms.
