The only check he should have been doing is see if his life insurance was up to date

Making a full on lane change or even a subtle change of position when amongst other traffic traveling at about your speed is when shoulder checks are at their most useful, a lifesaver (which is a complete turn of the head so that you can actually see behind) is generally only useful when turning right into a minor road as it promotes a full 180 degree scan into the space you are about to cross.

Staying on topic I don't think any number of lifesavers or shoulder checks was going to help this fellow........
As always, explained better than I could

He's just been convicted of dangerous driving after he posted his video on YouTube and Cheshire Constabulary got involved.

Good, the attitude he presented in the comments of his video said it all....

On the BBC news site: "Cat and Fiddle near miss biker guilty of dangerous driving"

I particularly liked the quote:

If your choices are to hit a car on the other side of the road or ride into a fence then you've already had a crash, it just hasn't hurt yet.

The only choice he forgot was to actually make it round the corner.
Oh yeah forgot he didn't have someone to follow to show how it's done......
Danger to himself and all around him.

What the boy really needs is shown what he did wrong and where he needs to improve. Yes hitting him in the pockets gonna hurt but not as much as hitting another vehicle. If he won't listen then ban him. I don't know what speed he was doing but that corner would have been a doddle to get round even at that speed if he'd taken the right line and not target fixated he didn't even really tip the bike in. God everyone has had a moment of target fixation but you need to click that you're doing it and correct it not panic and make the situation worse.

pompous rant over.
