From my ticket it states you will only be offered a speed awareness course ....

In a 30mph limit...35 to 42mph inclusive
In a 40mph limit...46 to 53mph inclusive
In a 50mph limit...57 to 64mph inclusive
In a 60mph limit...68 to 75mph inclusive
In a 70mph limit...79 to 86mph inclusive

So I don't understand the 10% + 2 quotes?

The upper limit is found from what they say on the Q&A part from which comes with the NIP. And those numbers are the same as the ones you've just given.

It's worked out by (speed limit+10%+9mph) so for 30mph, the upper limit is 30+(10% of 30)+9=42, the upper limit for 40 is 40+4+9=53 etc.

The 10% +2 is the guidance for when enforcement of any sort starts. So less than 46mph in a 40 limit will not normally result in any action. So whatever upper limit any force applies for the course, it must of course be higher.

The course I did was a morning (4 hours), and you have to pay for it, which is usually about the same as the fine.

True, and, as it's not a speeding conviction, you don't declare it to you insurer either... unless they specifically ask.

Do they only do it during the week during work hours? Or is it a weekend thing?

When I was offered the course, you are given a website to go to that shows you available dates. I think almost all were weekdays, but can't remember...

The good thing is, you can choose a course in your area, useful for me, as I was caught in Essex, but libe in Kent (not too far apart, but still)

Guidance is only guidance. Ya can't accurately predict the future buy doing the maths. If you know what I mean.
