Superfast Ferries
Every year me and 3 mates go for a long weekend in France / Holland. Because I know the guys from when I used to live in Leeds, we always get a boat fron Hull to Rotterdam / Zeebrugge.
Has anyone used the Superfast boat from Rosyth instead ? I think I'd like them to troop up here rather than me heading down there each time, but to be honest, the P&O boats are pretty good. I just wonder how the opposition stacks up ? We've also got a spare place for our trip this year - Dutch MotoGP (or TT as they still call it) if anyone fancies it ........... |

I thought it was great, more like a cruise ship than a ferry. Depart at 5:30 ish and up on deck to see the bridges, coastlines and forth wildlife, right until you pass the bass rock about 7 ish. Down to a nice restaurant (book in advance) and help yourself to an excellent buffet for about 15 quid each. Through to the bar/lounge with live jazz band playing and get ****ed with waitress service to the tables. Nightclub, casino, etc if you fancy it, or just go back to the cabin and go to bed. Up at 9am ish with plenty of time for a shower then breakfast in the bar/lounge (band playing again) before rolling off refreshed and ready for a days riding or driving at 10:30. It's makes the travel part of the holiday and based on my experience 3-4 years ago I'd highly recommend it. I hate the Hull ferry because it docks so early you have to go straight from bed to the vehicle deck and drive or ride away without so much as a morning coffee. |

Also try Newcastle - Amsterdam(just about )
A lot cheaper than Roysth. DFDS line. Used them last year for SachsenringGP. Great. |

Re: Superfast Ferries
We got a 4 berth cabin (a bit too cosy !!!) and 4 bikes for £220 - I didn't think £55 each was too bad.
Fair comment about the early start though. I hate the "BING BONG Guten Morgen Damen en Herren" at 6am, normally 4 hours after I've crawled into the bunk after an evening on the Hoegaarden !!!! |
