Default dead battery.

Went to ride into work today and it wouldn't start... it made the usual whirring sound when I turned the key to on but then only pathetic gurgles when I hit the starter.

I've just read this thread...
http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.p...hlight=battery
...which is interesting. So tomorrow (when the missus is home) it'll be a waste of time trying to get her to push start me? I tried myself but doing it on your own, in the rain, on a moderately busy and flat road just isn't possible.

When I picked the bike up a similar thing happened which they said was due to the fact it'd been sitting in the showroom not ridden, so they plugged it into the 'ol charger for 20 minutes and it's been fine since. It was last ridden on Monday and did about 40 miles in the morning and then 15 in the evening. Since then it's been in the garage.

Anything else worth trying, or should I just phone the dealer and tell them the bike (had it just over a week now) needs a new battery and they're paying?

I can get her to push me tomorrow, but the impression I got from the other thread is that it might not work as well for an injection engine as it does for a carb.

I'm more concerned that this will happen again and in a less convenient location than my garage. It's good to have the optimate going at home but we were thinking of going touring in the summer and I don't really wanna be in ********ofnowhere Lookout, Jersey (that's an ancient Jersey name, honest) and find myself with a dead SV because the battery has reknackered.

Ah... sorry impression I got was just to get it going and hope all would be well.

Called Thunder Road who will be collecting it tomorrow.

So much for doing anything bikey this weekend!
