Grrrr Starter Clutch
My SV is on its way to be ready for the road. After a little bit of fiddling today i atempted to start it but it was not gona play ball, every now and again there was a banging noise when it was being turned over, i started to think if i had set the cam timing up wrong, but after several checks i determined it must be ok and that it was somthing to do with the starter not engaging properly. Anyway still after a while it would not start, checked the coils and there was power to both so that was ok, then i checked the crank position sensor, i forgot to plug it in, done that and turned over the bike to it running nicley. After a while i turned it off and since then it wont start again.
It seems like the starter clutch is not gripping as it is being turned over, very annoying, tried to bump start the bike instead with a freind but that too is not playing ball. Might need to take the flywheel off and check the clutch mech.

Re: Grrrr Starter Clutch
Hmm, I'd have thought that'd just lead to the starter spinning freely if it wasn't gripping at all. Do you need a rotor puller, I've got one lying about doing nothing that you'd be welcome to a loan of...
