Leave tail pack on bike?
Forgive the Newbie posts please!
Do you reckon my Tail pack is OK strapped to my bike in a bike bay with my lock through a couple of zips and a plastic D ring. I know it would still be quite useable after breaking all of these? |

A bike bay? In London? If it's covered - maybe. Otherwise no chance.
If it's not got anything valuable in it, then maybe it's best not locking it. |

No. Plain and simple. If you value it then take it with you mate.
Having said that i have forgotten to take my tailpack thing off the bike once or twice and been amazed it was still there when i came back a few mins later. Too many chancers in London to risk leaving things intentionaly tho.

You have an oxford don't you? Can't you just unzip it and leave the base on?

I was just emptying my Humpback and taking the stuff into workl
Then I spotted the zip And the handy rucksack straps. So I would unzip and leave the base behind if possible.

they would have to get the seat off to do that.
On a pointy then velcro strap has 100% contact across the width of the rear seat - which I would guess to be 10" + Would take a strong guy to separate that by pulling it out from under the seat when it is also jammed in place between the seat and the surround. Also what use is it to anyone? Think I am safe enough - and if it did get nicked, Oxford do spares

Ain't no way to get the base off without opening the rear seat.

Thanks all, went for it at lunch time.....
Still there. Yeah, doesn't have removeable base, doesn't lock under the seat. (Must be a differnt year model) Will probably leave it on under a locked bike cover in future (I know it could be slashed) Boy, that bike bay's jammed tight, my flexible indicators on both sides are bent touching other bikes. Glad i'm not trying to keep a pristine new bike! |
