What have you tinkered with today?
More tinkering with the VFR today. Forks have been curing/drying for the last week so I can start to rebuild the front end. First I have to clean, polish and spray the ABS rotor which was going furry. Roll on March.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?
I also discovered that the heat gun trick also works on scuffed crash sliders. Just file and sand to remove digs and scratches. Get it as smooth as you can then heat gently with the gun. Stop once it starts to go shiny and wet and let it cool. Most of the remaining scratches should just merge as the plastic softens. Just don't over do it.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?
Installed the replacement inline bathroom extractor fan which finally arrived on Friday. My knees hurt from crawling around on the loft rafters now - must get some pads if I have to go up there again.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?
Started to bond with the new SV, put some cotton reels on so I could get it up to clean and lube the chain, adjusted the clutch freeplay and tested everything was still working. Installed the straps for my new Kriega tail and tank bag, hopefully this scratches less than my old magnetic one, ignition barrel had a trick turn and the tank has to be forced to line up to bolt it back down, just like my last bike

Re: What have you tinkered with today?
Fired the race bike up for tomorrow's acu test. It popped and banged like a good'un. Carbs had recently come from my road bike but were rechecked. Area checked for air leaks, cam timing checked as I had recently fitted cams from a k5 and only fired it up briefly since. Much fart arsing about later it clears its throat and idles beautifully. Many jobs that would have been done were lost chasing that bloody fault. Help was given by Sid Squid who managed not to point out that it had worked just fine before I fiddled with it. Much. Hurumph. At least it seems happy for now.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?
Removed the chinese black double-bubble (which was better than the stock screen) and replaced it with a genuine Suzuki touring screen. A little less agressive looking, but looks far better than short stock screen.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?
Straightened the rear derailleur hanger on a colleagues push bike using this method
Really simple & did the job without having to buy an expensive tool. Fitted replacement derailleur, changed the cable, cleaned and lubed the chain Also stripped another bike down to the bare frame
