Relax and enjoy.

Don't be too fussy about the run in scheme, apart from the first couple of hundred where you should keep the engine speed down, just ride it normally without either thrashing it, or babying it.

Loads of discussions on break-in procedures.

Just a couple of tips.

1 - don't leave the bike running at idle to warm up. This is definitely bad for it. Start it, allow it to settle for say 20sec or so, then ride off gently.

2 - ride gently until it's warmed up properly, say a few miles or 5-10mins.

3 - treat the break-in as a gradual process, not a set mileage at each speed limit. Gradually increase engine speed and load as the miles clock up. The first hour or 2 is the most important. By 500mls or so you're not going to do any harm.

4 - try to do the break-in in a few long runs rather than lots of short ones, do it all in one go if you like! Short runs are not good for it.

5 - enjoy

And the recommended way is to back up into the lift not do a straight lift. i.e. pick the bike up while you are facing away from it!

Go gently on the cornering till the tyres are scrubbed in. Once they're scrubbed in, find somewhere safe like an empty car park and do a few emergency stops. You don't want to have to learn what the bike feels/handles like under heavy braking and what the braking limits are the first time a car pulls in front of you.

Other than that, relax and have fun. If it's your first bike, try not to get too carried away with the speed/acceleration till you're used to it.

Just have fun, i picked my K5 up last monday and have done just over 1000 miles now. I just took it steady for the first couple of hundred then didn't really think about it after that as long as i was ragging the nuts of it. The tyres felt perfect from the first corner and then once the first service was done at 600 miles i was told as long as i didn't red line it at every gear change then not to worry to much about stickin to a set rev limit.

Ride safe and enjoy
