you never recover the cost of goodies on a bike. people dont look and say ooohhh its got his or that they look at the condition and i'm afraid that due to the massive scrape on the top fairing you will get less. yes other standard bikes of same age go for same money but they have good paintwork.

if you want top dollar get the fairing replaced or repaired, put the standard parts back on and sell the goodies separate.

personally if it was me i would walk away from the sale after seeing the scrape as it would make me think that it has been down the road.

You are right. No chance really. I have a 2005 model with low mileage that I would sell for £2500, this chap would be lucky to get 1500 quid to be honest. In my opinion that is.

it DOES look like brand new when washed, except for the scratch, of course. are you joking about the price?

They arent joking about the price, my bike is 10 months old but because of the high mileage (11,000) and because they dropped the price by a grand a month after I bought it. I doubt it would fetch £2,500 and I have no damage what so ever.

It all comes down to that 4k brand new price, people wont pay over the odds for an old bike with damage when they can put £1500 on top and buy a brand new 0 miler

I'm looking out for a tidy fully faired pointy and I'm amazed that a ten year old bike only depreciates by around 50%. Were it not for the limited colour choice of new bikes I'd be tempted to go out and get a new one. I wish my car was worth 50%of its new price now.

I guess I'll just keep it then...

it is strange, though, if I were to buy Adny_J's bike right now, I won't get it for £1500 or less, so there must be something about the gap between what it's worth and what it sells for.

thanks

any item is only worth what people are willing to pay for it.

i got my K7 twin spark at 3 years old with 1087 miles on the clock for £2950 and it looked like it just came out the showroom. i then proceed to spend a complete fortune on the bike with a brand new custom built Nitron sport shock and i put a GSXR K4/5 600/750 front end on it, i have also had the forks re-valved and serviced once a year. my brakes are stripped and serviced properly once a year and the bike wants for nothing, everything i have put on the bike has been of high quality and not your usual tat. it also has HID projector headlights with a proper custom built wiring loom. there are other things that i have done and far too many to mention.

so what would a bike like mine sell for realistically £2600-2700 as that is what people would pay. what do i think my bike is worth? well to me its priceless.

Trust me, that is not a scratch. You can touch scratches up with a bit of paint or even polish them out. That needs a lot more work.
If you advertised that bike as like new with a scratch and I turned up to buy it, I'd be more than ****ed off.
