SV650 making funny noises!
Ok so bikes handles fine, everything is as normal and runs great but i hear this 'wind whistle' type noise when i go over 50mph. If i go 90mph it gets a lot worse!
Its the type of noise you get when your visor is slightly open and the wind hits it at an funny angle! My dad knows a lot about bikes, we have checked all the bike fearings. Wheel bearings, chain, brakes (defentally not the brakes) its not my helmet or clothing im wearing. Its not the exhast, not the clutch slipping, not the idle. Anyone have any ideas on what It could be? Its very frustrating! Please help me!!!! Its my birthday today, im 20 you would make my day if anyone could help me with my problem! |

Re: PLEASE HELP!! :( SV650 making funny noises!
Hmmmmmm,it's difficult to diagnose "a noise" without hearing it, but if you're sure it's not mechanical in nature (as it it doesn't change with engine revs), or rolling chassis, then check panels and their fixings, these can resonate if loose or broken at different road speeds, this normally goes high pitch the faster you go, or can stop after a certain point to, check for cracks around mountings and alike.
Another thing to look into is air scoops and other holes in fairings, try sticking a bit of gafffa tap over them and see if the noise goes away, that could lead you to the offending one ? Cheers Mark.

well you could always bring it down Soho one friday(have a look at the top of this section for details), fairly easy to tell a chain problem
Cheers Mark.

I can only suggest checking one thing at a time, then see if changes whats going on. Never do more than one thing, as you won't which one it is. Fault finding can be a long process, but just be logical about how you do it. Happy Birthday! |
