Default Speedometer Out, Odometer Frozen - 2001 SV650 Naked

Hi Folks,

1. Speedometer went out
2. Odometer is now out (thank god the gas light works)

I tightened the wiring behind the headlight and the Odometer worked for another day (intermittently) and then died again.

I recently had the tires changed, though the speed+odometer were working for a couple weeks after the service.

The little doo-dad on the left side of the front rim seems to be securely intact.

Ideas?

Cheers,
Jeff

usalsy it will be a corroded connector that causes the ODO not to work

Recent tyre change =broken rotor in the speedo drive on the front wheel in my book. These are notoriously brittle and prone to failure,so that should be your first port of call.

The fact that he was able to fix it with the wiring suggests otherwise though. But you never know.

True, but the last one I broke still worked intermittently for several hundred miles before packing up totally.I think one prong broke off the rotor first before it disintegrated.
