Default Anyone good at solving track tyre wear issues?

Tyres are Bridgestone RS10. Bike is 2001 Blade. Skill level is low. No warmers, but steady build up of speed over 3 laps each session. Front pressure 29 cold 31 hot. Rear pressure started 27 cold 31 hot and tried reducing to 29 hot but no change. I had the suspension setup at Donington a couple of weeks ago. Pictures after Rockinham today tell the story, front doesn't look too bad but rear is a mess.

Any ideas? Perhaps warmers would help?

Thanks.

looks to me like the rear spring is too soft and the back end is squatting too much so your loosing traction. but i know nothing.

were you running wide on corner exit?

Could be, but the sag is about 25mm so I guess it can't be far off. The sag was measured by a 9 year old though, so it might not be too accurate! It felt fine to me, no problems with running wide, but I guess with the problem sorted I might be able to get on the power earlier and harder.

I'm fairly sure the problem is rear and the damage is being caused coming out of the corners, as the worse wear is about halfway between the middle and the edge of the tyre, so the bit of the tyre that is in contact putting the power down on the exit.

Yeah, I saw this earlier and based purely on comparing their pictures with the tyre it looks like a bad case of hot tear. A bit of googling found a test on the tyres that concluded that the rear needs careful attention to pressures and recommended a hot range of 31-36, with the front more consistent with a recommended 35 psi hot.

So I probably need to be about 5 psi harder front and back. Sounds too high to me but I'll try it and will be happy if thats the problem as it's a free fix.

The tyres are excellent if I can sort the wear out, even with the wear they were predictable and grippy. The front gives loads of confidence, I noticed during the day that I was trailing the front brake right to the apex on a couple of the corners without thinking about it, it just felt planted and stable all the way.

I thought it looked like hot tear too but couldn't really see how deep the grooves were. The Dunlop rears I use only require 22 to 24 hot (depending if English or French made). Once you get the pressures right then any suspension issues are easier to spot.

Getting warmers for track tyres is important but not sure if rs need them or not

too hot, i run 24-26 hot rear on my trackbike.

when you do get warmers, set them hot off the warmers before 1st session, then after 1st session set them again off hot track temp

I would also say that its hot tear, if there is a tyre guy at the trackday he will point you in the right direction to the correct psi.
