...the best snow for sledging in North Wales right now?

Re: Where is....
The best known hills are all compacted ice now, fast but not very comfortable. Loggerheads might be ok, but has been sledged very heavily so maybe the snow has been pushed off, see how busy it was yesterday.
You might be well advised going out on the B5105 and looking around Clawdd Newydd or maybe go to LLanfihangel Glyn Myfyr and take the road along the river for a mile or so. There is still snow around here and not sledged out, but it is pretty steep! |

Re: Where is....
Scratch the above, the forecast is more snow tomorrow, so there will be plenty about. Avoid honeypots like Loggerheads though as you run the risk of an out of control sledger taking you out on the crowded slope. Not sure how bad this new snow will be, but the BBC were being very alarmist.
If the snow is deep, your sex-trail will struggle on the standard tyres - they just clog and turn into slicks! The ABS kicks in real early to, stopping is the problem rather than going. That said, the sex-trail is pretty awesome in snow due to it's relatively light weight and gentle power. Mine has handled it all (on General Grabber AT2 tyres) pretty easily, only driver error causing a problem on one slippy descent. If you go out, have a load of fun! If you end up near Ruthin, call round for drinks and a warm up. |

Re: Where is....
Thanks Mike, plan is to head out at the weekend and see what we can find. I had similar experience in the car, awesome on the snow recently. I took it up a road in New Brighton caled Portland Street, the steepest in Wallasey I think, in about an inch of compacted ice/snow. it drove up it like there was nothing there leaving cars at the bottom spinning wheels. Very impressed.
Keep the forecasts coming! |

Re: Where is....
I awoke to an inch of new powder and it has just started snowing again. The forecast temperatures are below freezing all week so it should be around at the weekend. Just be aware that Denbighshire has run out of grit and only priority routes being done, so my suggestions might be a little hairy.
