how to jack up your SV:(homemade front/engine stand)
I needed somethink to jack up my SV to install the R1 front end and I ended up with this:
Don't mention the superb weldings! I've done my best... But as you can see, it will do and next week I can start the rebuilding... It is quiet easy to jack 'm up. But I need a helping hand to hold the bike. The bike is stable enough to work on it. You need to push hard at the rear to get him of... Cheers! Somebody interested in the EBC Pro-Lite discs/rotors? They only have 500km. I will sell them with the (also new) Goodridge GH brakepads. Much, much better than standard! |

Very nice I used the same sort of idea when I did mine but I used timber and some metal angle iron

Re: how to jack up your SV:(homemade front/engine stand)
Funnily enough I was looking at that hole through the bottom of the engine today as I was fiddling with my forks. I reckon I'll slide a steel rod through and use a couple of axle stands with an assistant to tilt the bike back on the abba stand. Gotta be better than using blocks etc.
Good job there though. Wish I could weld. |

Re: how to jack up your SV:(homemade front/engine stand)
I had a plan to make a teeny tiny stand that;'d go through that, almost like a centrestand, when I was entertaining daft ideas of changing wheels at trackdays But I never actually did it- top job, that.

Re: how to jack up your SV:(homemade front/engine stand)
I made up a one-man stand for use in that hole.
Used a scissors car jack and welded a couple of lugs with same diameter holes on top. Slide in a bar and wind it up. Up pops the front or back. Dead stable. Easy as. Someone on here hosted a webpage about how to make it. I'll dig out the link sometime. |

Thanks for the repleys!
Patent? No, no, you can have it. I have no problem with sharing my ideas with other people. (Except when I could make a lot of money) Although I could sell it one day, when I sell my SV. Or maybee addapt it to my new bike. I will see. |

My homemade stand looks almost exactly like that!
Easy to make and easy to use. |
